First Place Winner of November Show – Dianne Marlin
Born in Milan, always passionate about drawing and art since her childhood, I am a self-taught artist and have always continued to cultivate my passion for art even during my studies and in the period in which I worked in the field of marketing.
I love studying new media and various techniques and over the years I have experimented with various, from graphite to watercolor, from acrylic and airbrush to oil.
In 2015 I decided to leave my office job, following the ever-present call of art to which I began to devote myself full-time from 2016, initially customizing mainly helmets and motorcycle parts with airbrush and at the same time expressing myself through my paintings on canvas.
In 2019 I began to exhibit my artworks, receiving an excellent response from public and critics and obtaining various awards.
I love realism and started painting in a photorealistic way and I paint mainly female subjects but now I am exploring a more conceptual portrait style. I have always been particularly focused on the expressiveness of the gaze.
Currently, I am working on a series of female portraits of women who show, in their gestures and expressions, feelings of loneliness, sadness and melancholy. The series dedicated is called “Heartbreak Hotel”, like the famous song by Elvis Presley. Each work, a room. Each room, a broken-hearted woman.
