Interview with the First Place Winner of our March Show – Simona Zecca
“SEA+ (DIPTYCH) by OLGA PEKARSKAJA was selected as a “Honorable Mention” in our July Show. Here is our short intreview with the artist.
1. How did you start creating art?
I started drawing and painting when I was 4. And this was my beloved process, thanks to my dear mother, who noticed this and took me to art school.
And that’s it! I can’t help drawing, painting, I can’t help loving to create something on paper.
2. Please tell us a bit about the artwork that was selected (style, technique, your inspiration etc).
I like watercolors, ink colors… or colores that can be mixed with water… fluid, flow with water. And from other site graphic details. Usually I paint by mixing these two methods. And water itself in fact inspires me very often. Water is open…
3. What quarantine has meant to you? Was it difficult to work in isolation and what effect this unprecedented time had on your work and creativity?
In many ways to create something is to be isolated…so…quarantine personally meant nothing for me and gave or made no effect on my work or creativity.
But it effects social life, galleries and opportunities for artists…
4. What do you think about trends in contemporary art?
I really don’t think about contemporary art. I think that any creation must have some “message” or “thought”, to tell some story maybe. And I myself like it to be done in a traditional creative way.
5. Please tell us a bit about your current work and some future projects.
I always have some ideas to draw and to paint, many times I just write them down, cause there is not enough time to fulfil this all on paper.
So, it’s hard to say about future projects, just simple slogan – not a day without drawing!
